Many mobile phone users have experienced unwanted calls. It can be a simple phone call from companies offering different services, or just a person with whom you do not want to communicate. If calls become intrusive, the question arises whether it is possible to block a phone number so that they do not call and how to do it. Android smartphone owners have several ways to create a blacklist.

How to block a phone number using standard Android features?

The inclusion of a subscriber in the unwanted list has become possible on smartphones with a version of the Android operating system higher than 6. Blocking is carried out at the hardware level. The algorithm for enabling it is as follows:

  1. Go to "Settings". This item can be found in the menu with all applications, it is indicated by the "gear" icon.
  2. Go to the "System Applications" section, or if you do not have it, then simply select "Applications".
  3. Select the Calls application from the list.
  4. Next, you need to go to the item "Blacklist numbers". If you have not added anyone to it yet, the opposite will be the number "0".
  5. In the screen that opens, there will be an "Add" or "+" button.
  6. You will be offered two options - enter the number manually or select a subscriber from the list of contacts.
  7. Next, enter the required number and select the blocking option: calls, SMS messages. You can opt for both options.
  8. Click on the "Ok" button.

If you want to remove a subscriber from the black list, you just need to hold down his number in the list and click on the "Delete" button.

This general algorithm may not work if you are using an operating system that has been modified by the smartphone manufacturer. In this case, you can add contacts to the black list directly from the call list or notebook. This is the easiest way to block the caller.

It is enough to call the context menu by holding the contact line or three dots located on top of its card. Users of Samsung smartphones, MIUI shells, gadgets from Asus have such an opportunity.

If you did not find the lock functions in your phone, you need to use other options - contact the operator or download and install a special application.

How to block a number using operator services

The owner of a phone of any brand can enter the numbers of unwanted interlocutors into the blacklist at the level of the cellular operator. To do this, it is enough to contact him in any available way. We will tell you how to block a subscriber if you use the services of different cellular operators.

MTS

This telecom operator provides the "Black List" service for a fee - from 1.5 rubles per day (you can check the exact conditions in the subscriber's personal account). There is a free version of this service called Parental Control and only connects to mobile numbers used by children.

To use the standard black list, you need to activate the service. You can do this in one of the following ways:

  • * 111 * 442 # - after this USSD request you will be able to use the service;
  • bl.mts.ru - after authorization on this portal, you can connect the service and edit the list of numbers on the black list;
  • go to your MTS personal account through the application or the official website, here you can also immediately indicate the numbers of unwanted subscribers;
  • to short number 111 send a message 442 * 1.

If it is more convenient for you to use SMS messages, then to number 4424 to add a subscriber to the black list, you need to send the command: * 22 * unwanted contact number #. The subscriber number must be sent in the format: 7хххххххххх. Do not separate the number with spaces or hyphens.

Also, this mobile operator has the opportunity to choose what the blocked subscriber hears. It can be used if you send USSD requests:

  • * 442 * 21 * number # - when this command is selected, the caller will hear short beeps, that is, it will always be “Busy” for him;
  • * 442 * 22 * number # - when this option is selected, the caller will constantly hear the message “Subscriber is not available”.

You can choose any of these statuses. But remember that without connecting to the SMS Pro service, the unwanted interlocutor will be able to send you the messages that you receive. You can remove a person from the blacklist at any time. If you do not like using the Internet, then there are standard ways for this:

  • * 442 * 24 * number # - USSD request, after which you will receive an SMS message confirming the exclusion of the subscriber;
  • message to short number 4424 with the text 22 * number #.
Megaphone

To block a phone number for Megafon subscribers is only 1 ruble per day. For subscribers of this mobile operator, the connection and control of the black list is performed by the commands:

  • an empty message to the short number 5130 activates the service (in the reply message you will find out its current cost and specifics of use);
  • request * 130 # - activates the service;
  • you can add a number to the black list using an SMS message with it (write the coordinates in the format 7хххххххххх) to the number 5130;
  • request * 130 * number # - also adds the subscriber to the black list;
  • * 130 * 3 # - view the list of blocked subscribers.

The blacklist of this operator also allows you to block SMS from the subscriber. That is, you will completely ignore the unwanted interlocutor.

Beeline

This operator practices a piece-by-piece payment for blocking subscribers - for one number added to the blacklist, 3 rubles will be written off your balance. Beeline subscribers also have a limitation on the size of the black list - no more than 40 numbers can be placed there. Blocking can only be done via SMS and USSD requests.

  • * 110 * 771 # - a request to activate the service, it may take up to 24 hours to connect, but you can use the black list earlier;
  • * 110 * 770 # - command to stop using the option;
  • * 110 * 771 * number of the unwanted interlocutor # - will add the subscriber to the black list;
  • * 110 * 772 # - delete all blocked subscribers;
  • * 110 * 773 # - viewing the black list.

The SMS messaging method is less convenient, so we will not dwell on it. In addition, the operator often changes the short number to which commands must be sent to control the option.

Tele 2

This operator charges a daily subscription fee for using the blacklist in the amount of 1 ruble, and for each number entered, you need to pay 1.5 rubles one time. Also, the size of the list of blocked subscribers for Tele2 users is limited to 30 positions. This operator has the easiest way to manage the option using USSD requests. The list of commands will be as follows:

  • * 220 * 1 # - service activation;
  • * 220 * 0 # - stop using the option;
  • * 220 # - check the status of using the service;
  • * 220 * 1 * number in the format 8хххххххххх # - adding the subscriber to the black list;
  • * 220 * 0 * number # - remove a contact from the blocked list.

Please note that for this operator, you must start entering the number with an eight.

How to find out if a blocked subscriber called you?

If you have used blocking at the operator level, then you will not receive any notifications about calls. But many are interested in whether the blocked subscriber called. You can get this information from the operator.

  1. Tele2 subscribers receive information about the number of calls received from blocked subscribers using the command * 220 #. You won't have to pay for this information.
  2. At Beeline, each call list request will cost 5 rubles, and you can make it using the USSD message * 110 * 775 #.
  3. Megafon did not provide a command for quickly receiving information about incoming and rejected calls. You can get the necessary information only on the hotline.
  4. MTS provides information free of charge. To receive them, it is enough to send a request * 442 * 61 #.

If you used system settings to block calls, then notifications about attempts to contact you may be displayed in the Phone application. However, some Android builds do not provide this option.

How to block a phone number using the free Blacklist utility

Another simple and most importantly free way to avoid receiving unwanted calls is to use special applications. It is not difficult to set up a blacklist with their help. Let's consider how to block a subscriber's number using different programs using the Black List application as an example.

  1. Search for the application in the Play Market and install it.
  2. Give the application access to your contacts, calls and SMS messages.
  3. Choose which communication methods you will block: calls, SMS. Both options can be activated.

In this application, you can also ban messages and calls from unknown numbers, an attempt to contact you from hidden numbers. To configure, just expand the menu at the top of the window.

You can remove a number from the list by holding your finger on it for a long time. Then a pop-up window with the "Delete" button will appear. All options can be changed at any time. Additionally, you can add a person to the white list, which will definitely not miss a call or a message from him.

Top apps that protect you from unwanted calls

There are a lot of applications like the Black List utility, so it is very difficult to find an efficient and convenient one among them. We have selected the best options among the applications.

Truecaller

This application has already been downloaded by over 100 million users. It received high marks from them, as it allows not only to manually add subscribers to the unwanted lists, but also protects from spam.

The application has its own database of scammers and spam numbers. It is regularly updated to protect you from unwanted calls and messages. In addition, you can choose blocking modes: for one, incoming calls will appear in the form of notifications, for another - you will not know that they tried to contact you.

Call blocker

Another app with built-in black and white lists. But it has one feature - you can configure the application to work on a schedule. All calls within a certain period will be completely blocked, and you will receive a list of those who wanted to connect with you at that moment and independently decide which of them to call back. Scheduled blocking is convenient for those who value their rest time both during the day and at night.

Also, this application allows you to block spam. The Call Blocker interface has nothing superfluous, so any function will be set up as easily as possible. Even inexperienced Android smartphone users can handle this.

Call control

A stable application that will help protect you from spam, robots and unwanted contacts. You can configure whitelisting and blacklisting with it. The interface is well thought out and user-friendly, the setting of options is clear at an intuitive level. Its own database will help you immediately mark the number as an unwanted contact.

Hiya

This application is used by more than 5 million owners of gadgets on Android. He has one of the best databases of numbers of robots and people spreading spam. This application is completely free, it does not slow down the system and is understandable to use.

It is permissible to leave text notes to some phone numbers with its help. You can block not only calls, but also SMS from unwanted interlocutors. The interface contains a sufficient set of options for flexible customization of the lists.

Call Blocker Free

Another free application that can be installed even on a low-powered smartphone. In terms of the number of functions, this program is not inferior to its paid counterparts. In this application you will find spam protection, blacklist blocking SMS messages and calls. At the same time, you will always find out if the person included in the blocked list tried to contact you.

I feel that our civilization has already evolved to the stage of its development when we do not answer an incoming call on a mobile device from an unknown number or subscriber. All calls from unknown subscribers or from hidden numbers go to voice mail or an answering machine. But this process is done manually. How can this process be automated?
This will mean the end of calls from automated dialing systems (eg collectors). Is not that great?

How to block calls from unknown or undefined numbers

We already know how to manually block a number. The proposed method is more sophisticated and uses a clever, more sophisticated way, where we use the capabilities of such a largely underestimated Do Not Disturb function.

After enabling this feature, your iPhone will not ring or vibrate when someone who is not registered in the phone contacts application on your mobile device calls you.

Step 1: Open the iPhone Settings app and select Do Not Disturb.

Step 2: Turn on the "Manual" switch. This action activates the Do Not Disturb feature. You will see a crescent moon icon in the status bar.

Step 3: Press "Allowing calls from"... Now you need to decide from whom to receive calls and from whom to block incoming calls. If you choose "From the elect" then all calls from callers on your favorites list will be answered by your device (say, from your family or friends). If you choose "All contacts", then all subscribers from your contact list will be able to call you. The last option seems to be the best solution, since you will not miss a call from people who are really registered in your contact book.

That's all. Enjoy the peace of mind.

Which solution are you using?

Have you tried using third-party apps to solve this problem? Or have you taken advantage of the built-in iOS solution? The iOS 10 mobile system promised us a spam-free world thanks to CallKit. For me personally, these applications never worked well.

Many of us have come across people annoying with their calls and messages. And for a long time, there was only one way to get rid of their annoying attention - by changing your number. Today operators offer us tools for prompt blocking of calls from such “telephone hooligans”. In this review, we will tell you how to block a subscriber on MTS so that he cannot call or send an SMS.

Description of the "Black List" service

If you do not know how to block an incoming number on MTS, this means that you have never come across the Black List service. It allows you to block unwanted calls and messages. The disadvantage of the service is that it is quite difficult to manage, but it gives it additional functionality.

Let's take a look at the main features:

  • The ability to block a subscriber so that he cannot call;
  • There is an SMS blocking function, but it is available only when the additional service "SMS Pro" from MTS is activated (together with the "Black List" it is provided free of charge);
  • Ability to select the type of hang-up - "Busy" or "The subscriber's device is turned off or out of the network coverage area";
  • The ability to block alpha numbers (numbers consisting not only of numbers, but also of letters).

You can manage the service using USSD commands or using a special "Personal Account".

An additional advantage of control via the Internet is that we can tell the system when to block a subscriber - at certain hours or on certain days. Using commands, this procedure will seem daunting.

If you want to block incoming calls to MTS, use the Black List service. It is available for subscribers of almost all tariff plans, except for MTS iPad, Online and Connect. The same applies to the SMS blocking function, but here you need to add the "Cool" tariff to the above list of tariff plans.

Other restrictions and limits:

  • You cannot block MMS (although no one uses them anymore);
  • The service can operate in roaming, including international roaming (it works only in those countries where CAMEL roaming from MTS operates);
  • Blocking SMS works for far from all MTS numbers - only for numbers from Lipetsk, Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk, Yaroslavl, Tula, Tambov, Oryol, Tver, Smolensk Moscow, Ryazan, Vladimir, Kostroma, Ivanovo and Kaluga regions;
  • Blocking will not work if the calling subscriber hides his number;
  • You cannot manage the service during the period when the number is blocked.

The service is connected free of charge, the subscription fee is 1.5 rubles per day... The maximum number of subscribers whose numbers can be blocked is 300.

Working with the service

Let's see how to block a subscriber's number on MTS and what is needed for this. First, you need to activate the "Black List" service. This is done through the "Personal Account" or USSD-command * 111 * 442 #. If you need to disable the service, dial the command * 111 * 442 * 2 # or look into the control panel of your number.

Now we are looking at how to block a subscriber on MTS - for this we dial the USSD command * 442 # and follow the network prompts. You can also send an SMS with the text "22 * number" (without quotes) to the service number 4424. In the latter case, the type of hang-up will be automatically selected about the subscriber's unavailability. The easiest way to block an unwanted subscriber is through the site http://bl.mts.ru/.

Let's take a look at how to block SMS from an MTS subscriber - for this you need to activate the "SMS Pro" service. After that, we block the numbers according to the above instructions. If you are going to block alpha-numeric (short alphanumeric number), do not pay attention to the case of the entered characters - you can block this subscriber in any type of spelling.

Now you know how to block this or that subscriber on MTS. If you want to block SMS, dial the USSD-command * 111 * 2320 # or look in the "Personal Account" - by doing so, you will activate "SMS Pro". Please note that sending messages to 4424 is free only when you are on your home network. A complete list of the available commands, and there are about three dozen of them, you can find on the operator's official website.
