Adding an item to the lg g3 settings. How to get to the service menu on LG G2. Additional functions of navigation keys

  • 16.11.2021

LONDON, 27 May 2014- Today LG Electronics (LG) introduced the long-awaited G3 smartphone to the world, continuing the success of the popular LG G2. The presentation of the new model took place simultaneously in six cities in different parts of the world - London, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul. With the introduction of the G3, LG is striving to redefine what a smartphone should be that is universally suitable for users anywhere in the world.

LG G3 is designed with the concept of "Perfection in Simple Solutions". This smartphone has become the pinnacle of LG's philosophy: "Inspired by you", on the basis of which new products of the company are developed. The LG G3 is packed with all the best technology has to offer, giving wearers the most ambitious user experience ever LG has ever had.

“Our smartest innovation in the fast-paced smartphone market creates the perfect harmony between advanced technology and ease of use,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. The LG G3 is the result of our efforts to translate this idea into a real product. And we are incredibly proud of this result. "

Key features of the new G3

- 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 538 ppi pixel density, with a resolution four times that of HD and almost twice that of Full HD;

- 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization OIS + and revolutionary laser autofocus, capable of capturing images of stunning clarity in less time than conventional phone cameras;

Exquisite metallic texture effect back cover for light weight, anti-fingerprint and attractive appearance;

The filigree arched design makes it easy to hold the phone in one hand and also includes the innovative heritage of the Rear Key;

Reimagined G3 graphical user interface, in line with the concept of “Perfect Simple Solutions”.

Realistic multimedia viewing experience

LG has an unrivaled reputation in the display industry, and the development of the stunning Quad HD display for the G3 is the result of years of technological innovation. With a pixel density (538 ppi) of a Quad HD display, LG sets new standards in quality, delivering higher levels of contrast and image fidelity than conventional smartphones. The 5.5-inch LG G3 display occupies 76.4% of the front surface of the smartphone. Thin screen bezels allow the smartphone to be as comfortable and compact in the hand as smartphones with a much smaller screen diagonal.

The G3's high resolution screen required the company's engineers to develop an equally innovative battery. The LG G3 is equipped with a 3,000mAh replaceable battery and advanced optimization technologies to further enhance its efficiency. By replacing the metal in the cathode with graphite, LG engineers were able to extend the life of the new battery for the G3. The result is a battery that delivers high performance Quad HD display without running out of battery in the middle of the day.

Simply fascinating The advanced 13MP G3 camera with OIS + is designed to capture life's special moments quickly and easily, in the process, not when you specifically create them for shooting. This is made possible by an innovative laser autofocus pioneered in the smartphone market. This technology allows the G3 to capture the best moments even in low light by measuring the distance between the subject and the camera with a special laser beam. No more blurry photos of your son scoring his first soccer goal or missed shots because your camera can't decide which toddler to focus on on the playground. Combined with the popular and proven OIS + technology, pioneered in the G Pro 2, is sure to impress even the most discerning paparazzi.

LG has also made it easier to take photos directly. Instead of focusing in playback mode and then pressing a button to shoot, the G3 user only needs to tap the image of the focusing object on the smartphone screen. What's more, the G3's 2.1MP front camera features several new enhancements, including larger pixels for image capture and a larger aperture to increase the amount of light entering the lens, resulting in better selfies. A unique gesture control feature has been added to make taking selfies easier: when you're ready to take a photo, just squeeze and release your palm and the G3 will start an automatic three-second countdown and take the photo. A simpler solution is difficult to find.

For filming movies, the G3 offers great sound quality with microphones that measure ambient conditions to determine the optimal sound level for the clearest possible recording. And with built-in 1W speaker and audio amplifier, users can enjoy video and music with richer and clearer sound.

Balanced and Simplified Design The new G3's arched design, with its ergonomic curve and slim edges, offers superior one-handed usability. Rear Key Control Keys reiterate LG's innovative design features with improved On / Off and Volume buttons, as well as better materials and finishes. LG has also refined the buttons on the back of the phone, placing them in a simple and straightforward pattern, reflecting the balanced and coherent design of the G3. With a stylish matte finish with a metallic texture effect, the G3 looks clean without any fingerprints. The smartphone will be available in five vibrant colors: Metallic Black, Silky White, Shining Gold, Lunar Purple and Burgundy Red.

In addition to the new exterior design, LG has adopted a minimalist design for the flat graphics user interface. The rounded motif of the graphic icons in the new interface derives from the shape and concept of the LG logo, reflecting its unique style and personality.

Ease of Use Reflecting Simple Pleasures In addition to key cutting-edge technologies, LG has taken “Inspired by You” to the next level with new G3 custom features that were not available in previous smartphones. Among them, the following are worth noting: Smart keyboard: Adaptive technology remembers your typing features for faster text entry and fewer errors. The smart keyboard cuts errors by 75 percent by analyzing your fingertip accuracy and knowing what word you're going to type. The height of the keyboard can also be adjusted to better suit the person's hand and finger placement. Key keys can also be customized to enter frequently used characters even faster. Smart Notifications: Much like a personal assistant, Smart Notifications offers recommendations based on the user's phone usage and location, offering “tips” when they are most needed. Smart notifications can remind you of a call you previously rejected and ask if you would like to call back. If you have a lot of unused files and applications taking up G3 memory, the application will ask you if you should delete them. But what sets Smart Notifications apart from other personal assistants is the ability to use live speech. For example, instead of the usual display of the current temperature and weather forecast, they might give advice such as, "You might want to take an umbrella when you go outside because it is expected to rain in the evening." Smart Security: Realizing the importance of preserving and protecting sensitive information when smartphone is being shared, lost or stolen, LG offers a set of enhanced security features for the G3, such as:

Knock Code ™ allows you to unlock your device by entering a specific combination of taps on the screen. The combination of security and convenience will allow owners to create their own personal code that can be entered anywhere on the screen. On the G3, users will be able to use both the KnockON function to "wake up" the screen to check the time, and access the home screen via the Knock Code ™ application.

Content Lock keeps personal information secure and hidden from prying eyes when sharing the G3 with friends. When you connect the G3 to your computer, Content Lock prevents previewing of protected files, thus keeping your data safe. Protected files can be located either on the G3's internal memory or on a microSD card.

The Kill Switch function allows you to remotely lock your smartphone in the event of theft. Kill Switch also allows you to remotely erase personal information on the G3 without compromising its confidentiality. Kill Switch also includes virus scanning, remote wipe and blocking of other key functions.

LG is also offering a range of premium accessories for its new LG G3 smartphone: the QuickCircle ™ Case provides easy access to commonly used functions. For example, the user can make calls, send messages, use the music player and camera through the round QuickCircle window, without having to open the case cover. In addition to QuickCircle ™, LG will also offer a range of premium Slim Guard and Slim Hard cases that will not only prevent your G3 from scratching or damage, but also keep your device looking good. LG Tone Infinim ™ (HBS-900): Designed in collaboration with Harman / Kardon, Bluetooth stereo headset with premium sound quality and stylish design. Tone Infinim is equipped with a wire management system and dedicated buttons to easily find the music you want, as well as Name Alert ™ - voice notifications about the originator of an incoming call. Wireless charger: The compact foldable charger is designed to be easy to carry with you. Compatible with Qi wireless charging technology, it keeps you connected in the most convenient way possible.

Starting May 28 in South Korea, the LG G3 will begin rolling out to more than 170 mobile operators and retailers worldwide. Additional information about the release time of the smartphone in each individual country will be announced additionally as the model appears on the local market.

About LG Electronics Mobile Communications
LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company is an innovator and trendsetter in the global mobile communications industry. LG is driving the evolution of mobile technology forward through the use of key and highly competitive technologies in the areas of display, battery life and camera performance, as well as strategic partnerships with prominent market leaders. LG's consumer-centric products - including the flagship premium G Series models - combine a unique and ergonomic design with intuitive user functions that enhance the user experience. The company seeks to open up a new era of interaction for users, which is facilitated by maximum compatibility between all devices, including smartphones, tablets and many models of various household appliances and portable devices.

In contact with

A laconic interface, an application for monitoring health, a comfortable keyboard, a proprietary notification panel, as well as a powerful speaker and a unique case with a round window - all this is the LG G3.

Updated interface as an example of a practical approach

The updated interface in LG is a development of all the ideas laid down and implemented in the company's previous smartphones. But if earlier we saw interesting ideas and convenient solutions together with sometimes confusing or just a little chaotic design, then in LG G3 everything is different. The company has done a great job of bringing the graphical component of the interface to mind, in other words, it has collected all the elements and made them a single whole.

The main idea of the new LG UI, besides the fact that it should be convenient, simple and understandable, is graphic conciseness. It is expressed in the competent selection of icons, color schemes, fonts and many other details. In LG G3, flat icons drawn from scratch inside the company, they look great - here both the correct shape and a calm color palette, which was specially selected, so that different interface elements (icons, menus, window decoration, etc.) are combined with each other. friend. An important point is that the color scheme used in the LG G3 fits very well with the base design of Android 4.4 and Android L, so installing new programs and working with them on the LG G3, you will not notice any dissonance between the standard software and the one you just installed.

Now let's talk about some of the important features of the LG UI. The first is the grid size for positioning icons on the screen. The LG G3 can accommodate up to 25 icons on the screen, and that's not counting the panel in the bottom area, where 7 more icons can be placed. There is only one shortcut in this panel, which is a call to the menu with programs, but even it can be moved inside the panel to any position, that is, it is not necessary to leave it in the center. Secondly, in LG UI you can change the appearance of program icons, not only standard ones, but also new ones that you installed yourself. For any icon, you can choose a new one from the basic set, or set a picture, as well as a size, it can be an icon of a standard size 1x1, larger than -3x3, for example, or generally 5x5, that is, occupying the entire screen. This feature will allow even the most fastidious smartphone users to make their desktop as beautiful and correct as they need it. Again, this may sound a little too colorful, but think for yourself, when you buy a smartphone for a year, two, or even longer, you will probably want to customize its desktops the way you like. And the ability to change the icons of the programs will help very well with this.

The last point I want to talk about as part of a short description of LG UI is the lock screen. As before, in the LG G3 here you can change the set of shortcuts for launching programs (up to five), display the weather with full-screen animation or without, and customize the graphical unlocking effects. But the main feature is the new KnockCode unlock mode. The idea is simple - there is a square with four fields, touching which in a certain order, you set your personal code. In order to unlock the smartphone, you need to double-tap in the same order (that is, make eight touches) of the conditional square on the smartphone screen. This method has two advantages over the digital unlock code familiar to many. Firstly, to unlock a smartphone using KnockCode, you do not need to see the screen, you can tap your finger on it even while the device is in your pocket or bag, because you can hold touches in absolutely any area of the display, not just in the center or specially the marked box, as is the case with the numeric code. That is, the chance that someone will notice your password, being near you, is minimal. Secondly, the order of KnockCode touches entered several times is remembered at the reflex level, and then to unlock the smartphone, you touch the screen without even thinking about which order of pressing you need to follow, in contrast to the digital code, which is at risk of being forgotten or confused with another, a PIN code for a bank card, for example.

Little Little Things, or "Everyday Applications"

The LG G3 has a number of small "amenities" that are barely noticeable at first glance, let's call it that. The first is Smart Notice. This is a notification bar below the weather and time widget on your home screen to keep you on top of some important things. So, for example, Smart Notice, or, in other words, "Smart Prompts", give a short forecast of the weather and, when necessary, advice on what to take an umbrella or dress warmly. At first, this function seems funny and a little naive pampering, but think for yourself, how often do you, looking at the degrees in the weather widget or the rain icon, immediately remember that it is better to take an umbrella or dress warmly before leaving? I think not always. Smart Notice also reminds of missed calls and postponed events and, when necessary, offers to conduct a brief maintenance of the smartphone - delete temporary files, clean the system.

The next important detail that we often pay so little attention to in a smartphone, despite all its importance, is the keyboard. At first glance, the LG G3 has an ordinary keyboard, but this is not the case. Although all the signs of a simply high-quality keyboard are here - the ability to turn on vibration of keys by pressing and sound accompaniment of touches, the ability to change the theme from light to dark and vice versa, and even an additional number for quickly entering numbers. And in the English layout there are additional characters on the keys, they are entered by holding the button for a second. All these features are already familiar to many, but the LG G3 keyboard surprises with two "chips". Firstly, in the keyboard, you can change the set of keys on the bottom line, add buttons with additional characters and remove the button with the settings call if you no longer need it. Or leave the buttons below for entering a comma and a period or buttons for exclamation and question marks, that is, exactly those that you will use most often.

Secondly, in the LG G3, you can change the height of the keyboard. Thus, the keyboard takes up from a quarter of the screen to half, and even a little more. Accordingly, the size of the buttons changes, and at the same time - the convenience of working with the keyboard as a whole. With the ability to adjust the height, you can adjust the size of the keyboard to suit your needs. Thirdly, the keyboard in the LG G3 can be shifted to the left or right, thus reducing its working area, but making it more convenient for typing with one hand. Also, the keyboard can be "split" in half in horizontal mode to make text input with two hands more convenient and not to reach for letters in the center of the screen. All these settings make the keyboard in LG G3 very comfortable and flexible. Even if you don't like smartphones with large screens, thanks to things like keyboard offset and resizing options, the LG G3 might be the way to go.

Pre-installed applications. "Gentleman's set"

Today, any smartphone is a constructor, to which you can add almost everything that you lack. But, you must admit, it is much more pleasant to have all the necessary applications in a new device at once, and not to search for them. Naturally, we are not talking about such programs as a music player, calculator or browser, they are in any smartphone today. The LG G3 has a handy QuickMemo + app for taking notes. Notes can be entered using the on-screen keyboard or by hand using handwriting input. A picture, video or audio fragment recorded here is added to any note. And most importantly, you can immediately add information about the current weather and location to the just created note, as well as a reminder about its triggering at a specified time. Inside the application, notes can be collected in one window and simply use keywords for search, or you can divide them into categories by creating new ones and adding a separate icon to each. Some people will find this way of storing notes convenient.

Another cool program is LG Health. It works in conjunction with this particular smartphone, not only because it is the company's flagship, but also because for the application to work properly, a pedometer is required in the device. When you start LG Health for the first time, you enter data about yourself - weight, height, age, gender, then the application helps you to monitor your health, in short. LG Health shows you your daily steps, distance traveled, and calorie consumption. In addition, LG Health can record tracks and overlay them on a map, so using this program while traveling, you will never get lost somewhere in the woods. In extreme cases, it will be possible to go out along the same route that you got there.

Sound, battery and accessories, or "Technical Details"

One of the technical features of the LG G3 is sound. The power of the sound speaker in the smartphone is 1 W, and the power of the built-in amplifier for it is 1.5 W. In practice, these values allow you to get high-quality, and most importantly, loud sound of ringtones, notifications and especially music, if you decide to put it to be played through the LG G3 speaker.

The battery capacity of the smartphone is 3000 mAh, together with the general optimization of power consumption, this gives the device a whole day of operation in active mode - with calls, chatting on the Internet, listening to music and filming with the built-in camera.

For the launch of LG G3, the company has prepared a proprietary QuickCircle case with a round window on the front side. The case sits over the back of your smartphone and completely hides it, so if you buy a G3 in one color, you can always change it with QuickCircle. The accessory also has a built-in module for wireless charging of the device via the Qi interface. But the highlight of the accessory, of course, lies in its round window.

The window displays a clock in a variety of variations, a message menu, calls menu, an application menu and a music player, a camera viewfinder and the LG Health app. This is not to say that QuickCircle allows you to use your smartphone without opening the case, but you can really do all the most important things using the round window - take a call, read a message, control MP3, check the time, access LG Health.

By the way, in the first article we talked about what the camera in the LG G3 is capable of, now you can see how the popular blogger Sergey Dolya shoots with this camera. It would seem that this is just a camera in a smartphone, but take a look at what it can do in the hands of an experienced photographer.

The previous flagship, LG G2, became a very successful model for the company and raised the brand perception in the eyes of many users. Needless to say, I myself began to treat devices under the LG brand differently after I used the LG G2 for several months. However, the new G3, judging by the latest data, will become even more popular. In the first 25 days since the start of sales of the LG G3 in South Korea, the company has already broken an internal record - it sold 250,000 smartphones, which is twice as many as sold during the same period LG G2. In addition, the new smartphone has already received recognition from the global media and industry experts, for example, the British newspaper The Independent last week named the LG G3 the best smartphone on Android. And this is just the beginning.

The next-generation Korean smartphone has seriously matured, acquired new functions, packaged in a new design and got rid of childhood illnesses, which, in principle, did not exist. And here for the first time there is no looking back at other market players. Obviously, LG realized that Samsung has nothing to borrow lately and decided to create its own self-sufficient design from their point of view and its own proprietary shell. The latter, by the way, turned out to be very pleasant and comfortable.

G2 at the start of sales could be purchased for 24,990 rubles. It was a very competitive proposition at the time. Nobody expected the same price from the updated version of the smartphone, although, I must admit, there was little hope before the announcement. The device entered the market with a price tag of 29,990 rubles and had already managed to dump several thousand by the time this review was published. The main competitors are still holding the price level. I mean, of course, and.

However, a smartphone from LG in official retail is now sold for 26,990 rubles.

It is clear that each manufacturer, like that sandpiper from the swamp, considers his device to be the best, and the Koreans are actively trying to push us to choose their product. I propose to disassemble everything on the shelves using the example of my operating experience for two months and decide whether it is worth the candle.

Equipment

The set of the smartphone does not differ in the richness of the supply. In addition to the device itself, the box contains a power supply, a microUSB cable and branded brochures.

Alas, there is no, even the poorest, headset in the package. Such is the savings.

Appearance and ergonomics

Taking the G3 as an example, it can be seen that LG focuses on design and materials - these are important components of a modern smartphone. How else? Compared to its predecessor, significant work has been done on the appearance of the device. True, they did not forget about the savings either. On the front, the device is not much different from other devices. There is a well-established block design concept here. The bezels around the display have remained minimal, they have become a little wider than in its predecessor. Not cretal.

There is a blank plate with the company logo under the display. There are no touch buttons here, they are transferred to the display. I never tire of declaring that this is inconvenient. First, the virtual keys eat away the working space of the display. Not a crime, but still. Secondly, there are no system control buttons in the Camera application. Instead, only one single Back key is available. Because of this, it is impossible to instantly exit the program to the desktop. First, you have to return to the application that was open before launching the camera, and then click on the "House" image.

But the virtual control panel can be customized for yourself.

Above the screen is an oblong mesh of the voice speaker, to the left of which there are: a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a front camera and an LED indicator closer to the opposite corner.

The light sensor behaves interestingly in the sun. When exposed to direct sunlight, the smartphone screen remains unreadable for about 3 seconds, after which the corresponding sensor is triggered and the backlight is brought to the maximum level. Only at the highest brightness of the display, the information on it becomes readable.

There are beveled edges at the top and bottom of the front side, and a barely noticeable plastic rim is located along the perimeter of the entire front side. The latter is made specifically to protect the glass from contact with the surface when the smartphone lies with the screen down.

From the back, the case looks much more interesting. At certain angles and under appropriate lighting, the surface of the battery cover is indistinguishable from specially treated metal. The bottom line is that a special metallized coating is used.

Of course, there is no particular chill inherent in metal, but the surface is pleasant and, moreover, it looks good. So far, there are only two colors on sale: black and silk white. And very soon, models with other colors will hit the market: purple, burgundy red and, of course, gold.

By the way, the back cover is now removable. A removable battery is located under the cover, which opens access to the SIM card. Accordingly, there is no hot swap. The memory card is located above the SIM card slot, so it can be easily removed without turning off the device.

LG is not going to give up the control buttons located on the back cover. On the contrary, here their design has been improved. The volume keys have a concave shape, while the screen power button, on the contrary, protrudes above the surface of the smartphone. Quite a bit, but not like it was in the previous flagship of the company.

The entire navigation bar has shrunk, although the usability of the buttons has increased. Taking screenshots (volume down button + power button) has become much more convenient thanks to this. By the way, the protruding plastic transition from the camera eye to the buttons is always the first to come into contact with the surface, which makes it noticeably scratched and looks completely obscene.

Above the smartphone control unit, there is a rear camera peephole covered with a sapphire crystal. To the left of the camera there is a dark window, under which a laser is hidden, which is responsible for focusing. When launching the camera application, its reddish flicker is noticeable. On the other side of the photo module there is a dual LED flash. In theory, it should provide normal skin color in photos taken in the dark. There should be no eerie greenish tint to the face.

Right there, at the back, there is a hole for the main speaker. Not a very correct location from the point of view of sound propagation, but in practice I did not notice any deterioration in the sound.

From the sides, the smartphone is devoid of any elements. One silver frame is noticeable, which borders the device along the entire perimeter.

Only on the right side there is a recess for opening the back cover. Due to this, it can be easily removed. In the same Samsung Galaxy S5, it is very difficult to detach the battery cover. Take it off as you like. Not so in G3.

In the middle of the bottom edge there is a microUSB port, to the left of which there is a microphone hole and a 3.5 mm audio output.

Above there is a hole for another microphone and an infrared peephole for controlling household and other appliances.

The dimensions of the device are best compared to the main competitors of the G3 in the following table:

Length Width Thickness The weight
Lg g3

146,3

74,6

LG G2

138,5

70,9

Samsung Galaxy S5

72,5

Sony Xperia Z2

146,8

73,3

HTC One (M8)

146,4

70,6

The Korean smartphone seemed a bit wide to me. From the comparison above, you can clearly see that it is really the widest device among the current flagships. In my opinion, HTC One has the most convenient dimensions in this respect. Nevertheless, our editor Irina Shubina, on the contrary, liked the device in full.

Otherwise, the smartphone is also rather big. If the G2 had a relatively compact size and gave the impression of a sort of small and nimble device, then the G3 became noticeably larger. One-handed operation can be difficult at times. This is especially true when typing or turning off the Camera application, when it is really difficult to reach the Back key.

For this purpose, the smartphone is preinstalled with the possibility of detailed control settings under one hand for both left-handed and right-handed people.

First, you can customize the location of the system control buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Secondly, it is possible to move the keyboard, dialer to the left or to the right side of the device.

Thirdly, anywhere on the screen, you can place a special virtual button, by clicking on which the previously added list of applications is activated. The activation of special touch zones and so on is provided. You can feel the scope!

All of these additional settings improve the ergonomics situation a bit. A pleasant curtsey from the manufacturer towards the consumer.

Smartphone display

The screen is covered with a protective glass Gorilla Glass 3, which provides protection from scratches and good resistance to fingerprints. Nevertheless, both scratches and grease marks do appear on the glass surface over time. With this in mind, it is best to use some kind of protective film and try to be careful when using the device. There is another alternative - the QuickCircle case, which we will return to later.

The display has a diagonal of 5.5 inches with an actual resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. I will allow myself some digression. In 2009, Apple released an updated line of iMac desktop computers with exactly the same resolution. At that time, they, of course, were not pioneers, but monitors with the same resolution cost about two-thirds of the price of a computer from an apple corporation. Now, of course, the situation has changed. It's 2014, and smartphones have already caught up with the advanced desktop screens in terms of their characteristics.

The pixel density value is 534 dpi. Of course, this is a record figure, but in practice, 90 percent of people will not be able to distinguish the FullHD display from the QHD display installed in the G3. The purest water is a race for numbers and nothing else.

I am glad that LG strives not only for quantity, but also does not forget about quality. The smartphone uses a matrix built using IPS + technology, which provides very good color saturation and contrast. There are no bright acid colors found in Samsung smartphones. The shades are close to natural.

I think the display installed in the LG G3 can be safely considered one of the best on the market.

The viewing angles are maximum. There are no shortcomings in this parameter.

Performance and specifications

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor @ 2.5 GHz (4 cores)
  • video chip Adreno 330
  • 16 or 32 GB memory (eMMC ROM) + microSD card slot (up to 128GB)
  • RAM in 2 or 3 GB (DDR3 RAM)
  • 5.5 '' display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, based on IPS + matrix (Quad HD, 538 ppi)
  • main camera of 13 megapixels (optical stabilization OIS + and laser autofocus)
  • front camera 2.1 MP
  • removable (and this is a victory, friends!) 3000 mAh battery
  • sensors: accelerometer, light sensor, proximity sensor
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS
  • dimensions: 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm and weight 149 g

Networks and interfaces:

  • 4G (LTE), 3G (HSDPA), 2G (GSM)
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / g / n / ac),
  • Bluetooth 4.0,
  • NFC, SlimPort, MHL
  • A-GPS / Glonass,
  • USB 2.0, OTG

A version with 16 GB of memory reserved for data storage and 2 GB used as RAM is available on our market. It is a bit of a shame that domestic consumers are not as highly valued as consumers in other markets. Those who wish to purchase the maximum version can search for sellers of the gray product on the net. The bulk of the same (at least 95% of all users) will be satisfied with the younger version.

Yes, the device has up-to-date technical characteristics, easily copes with content of any weight and resolution (we are talking about 4K video), flies in all menus and opens applications with lightning speed, but there is still one caveat.

As expected, I set up a bare smartphone from scratch for all my tasks and needs. I installed a lot of software I needed, activated about a dozen different accounts, etc. The longer I used the device, saved up content on it, the harder it became for the G3 to work. Support for the interface began, the desktop with all the widgets and icons began to load for about 4-5 seconds after each press of the Home button. The camera recorded pictures for as long as five seconds and, therefore, during this period of time, the device did not react to anything. In parallel, the G3 reminded me of a PC with Windows XP installed on it. The more programs were installed, the longer it took to load and the more system performance dropped.

The situation was cured by a complete reset and setting up the device again. Google backup put all installed applications back in place, the rest had to be fixed manually. After a short procedure of this restoration, the G3 again looked like a modern flagship, and not like a noname-Chinese for 1500+ rubles.

I am at a loss to answer what was the matter. Now the device works as it should. It is my duty to tell you everything as it is and to warn you about even an unlikely, but still possible scenario.

At the end of the section, I present screenshots of synthetic smartphone tests.

Camera LG G3

For this feature, the G3 can be loved at first sight. In short, the photos are of very good quality, the detail of the video leaves no questions, and the camera interface is not overloaded with useless settings and shooting modes. There are drawbacks, but the pluses still outweigh.

Let's figure it out. The rear camera is a 13 megapixel module with f / 2.4 aperture, which in addition is equipped with a laser focusing system and improved (compared to the G2) optical image stabilization (OIS +). The first function migrated to the smartphone from professional cameras and allows the device to focus on objects faster, mainly in low light conditions. The beam estimates the distance from the camera's eye to the object being photographed. LG claims that the focusing speed is 0.27 seconds. There was no way to check this. We take your word for it.

Optical stabilization does not need to be specially activated from the menu, since the system works anytime, anywhere. To be honest, I find it strange to see a similar slider in the settings of smartphones from other companies. Of course, as a user, I want to have always great, blurry pictures. Why would I, in that case, go into the settings and turn off this function? Let it be enabled by default!

By the way, the interface of the photo application is devoid of many popular (from manufacturers) settings and shooting modes. Everything is done very austerely and as accessible as possible. There is no such horror that can be observed in the settings for the camera in the Samsung Galaxy S5. LG left only the most necessary parameters and relied on the development of an automatic mode, which copes well with most shooting scenarios. No night portrait, cloudy landscape or sports mode here.

There are also not entirely obvious points. How does it happen in smartphones from other companies? In the parameters there is a lever that activates the ability to focus and release the camera shutter with one tap on the screen. You won't find such a setting anywhere in the menu in the G3. To take a photo with one tap on the display, you need to hide all the elements of the camera interface.

Otherwise, photos are taken by clicking on the corresponding virtual button.

Output photos have a maximum resolution of 4160 × 3120 pixels (4: 3).

I suggest that you familiarize yourself with examples of smartphone photographs in a variety of shooting conditions.

The front camera (2.1 megapixels) takes pictures at a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The front sensor writes video in a similar resolution. There are two main features that I would like to tell you about. First, the release of the shutter while photographing oneself of a loved one is carried out by means of the palm. Everything happens as follows: an open palm must be entered into the camera's field of view, wait until the sensor recognizes the palm (turquoise hand gripping frames appear) and then clench the hand into a fist. You will have 3 seconds to build the right mine and try not to overwhelm the horizon. The setting works with a bang, mistakes happen only in difficult lighting conditions.

The second is taking selfies in the dark. To do this, in the settings, you must activate the flesh-colored backlight. Most of the screen becomes pale pink, and the backlight is brought to the maximum by the smartphone. Thus, the screen acts as a flash sufficient for shooting in low light conditions. The trick is aimed primarily at creating portraits in almost complete darkness. Miracles are not worth waiting for, but the effect is still there.

We will touch upon the details of photographing on the G3 in a separate article. In the same place, we will analyze in detail the various modes of the smartphone camera, delve into the available settings and, in general, look at beautiful photos. The review will appear on the site as soon as possible.

Videos can be recorded in normal resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) or in UHD format (3840 × 2160). This is certainly not 4K, but very close. Frame rates range from 30 to 120 fps.

We should also add that I liked the focusing speed during video recording and the quality of the audio stream recording. Everything can be assessed independently by the following examples:

Sound

The built-in speaker has a power of 1 watt and an additional amplifier. This is exactly what is stated in the official specifications. Yes, the device is really loud. There is even a slight vibration on the back cover. However, all this does not affect the sound quality in any way. Still, the once super popular Motorola E398 has yet to be outdone.

The quality of playback through headphones is at the level usual for any modern smartphone. Now, according to this parameter, almost all modern devices are in the same row. It doesn't matter what kind of device is used as a player. Already many smartphones and tablets have learned to produce a more or less similar sound picture. The LG G3 has no shortcomings in this regard.

Of the additional enhancements I liked the Pure surround setting the most. It makes the sound more interesting, but this is only in my subjective opinion. Otherwise, there are standard audio presets, including a seven-band equalizer.

As for the rest of the possibilities, everything is very standard here. There is support for playlists, broadcasting an audio stream to other devices, perhaps that's all. This time, LG is not putting any emphasis on sound quality through various outside forces. I mean the Vienna Boys' Choir, whose voices and compositions were used to promote G2.

The maximum volume is equal to 80% of the top value in the same iPhone.

Battery

A removable rechargeable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh is installed in the device. Obviously, LG took into account the opinion of those users who are still not satisfied with the non-removable battery for some reason. I don’t know what you can look at under the lid, but the manufacturer was not too lazy to meet this very small segment of consumers. This step in itself says a lot about the corporation. Maybe the reason for such a step lies in something else, but let's believe in the best.

It takes about two hours to fully charge the battery. The entire battery capacity can be easily used up in one day. It is enough to make several five-minute beeps a day, spend a couple of hours on the Internet via Wi-Fi, use navigation for two hours, and take a couple of dozen photos with the built-in camera. In this mode, at ten o'clock in the evening the device will have approximately 20% of the battery charge. During the night, the smartphone loses another 10% of its capacity. Is this the norm? For a smartphone with a display of five and a half inches and a monstrous resolution, this, in my opinion, is at least not bad. The manufacturer, for its part, assures that the metal in the cathode of the battery has been replaced with graphite, which in the dry residue should give good results in the energy capacity of the battery. This is how it looks in theory.

In practice, we have comparable indicators of the autonomy of the G3 relative to its competitors.

Of course, a power saving mode is provided. You can activate it from the settings. In this case, the smartphone turns off auto-sync, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, vibration on touch, LED indicator, and more. Nothing special.

By the way, during my extensive testing of the G3, I noticed one peculiarity that concerns battery performance. After fully charged and reaching 100%, the battery naturally starts to discharge. However, the charge drops to 99% only after 5-10 minutes of active use of the device. In the future, the energy consumption is displayed correctly and each percentage is spent at equal intervals with the same intensive use. It reminded me of the times when Nokia reigned almost completely. The charge, measured at that time in the sticks, began to melt quite actively when the battery reached its real 50% capacity. Up to this point, usually all full 5-6 bars burned. The hero of our review is about the same, but, of course, not on such a scale. I, frankly, have not seen such behavior for a long time.

Software capabilities

With the iron finished, let's move on to the software. LG has done a great job in this regard.

First, the proprietary shell has been completely redesigned. From subscriber icons to sliders in the built-in player. The interface has acquired the now fashionable flat design, but the shadows from the objects still remain. It's funny that Koreans switched to a simplified design earlier than Google with their Android L.

The colors have changed to softer, pastel shades. The only thing that is not entirely clear to me is why some icons (Internet browser, contacts) became round, while the rest (messages, camera) remained square. It is clear that purely Google applications cannot be redone, but your own programs could be adjusted to the general concept.

Knock code- an excellent function thanks to which the smartphone screen can be unlocked by double tapping on its surface.

The setting works well, but misses still happen quite often.

Several times the device refused to respond to double touches at all until I activated the screen with the power button. In the previous flagship of the company (G2), the chip was debugged much better. I have been using both smartphones for quite a long time, so I have something to compare.

Smart tips- these are special tips, thanks to which the user can clearly get acquainted with the main features of the new device, of course, if he has not read our review. Hints push their way to the main screen and over time they start to get annoying. After viewing them, they do not disappear anywhere and remain hanging on the desktop, located to the left of the main screen. Their main purpose is to refer to training texts and videos on how to interact with the device. No more.

LG is actively promoting a new system of "smart notifications" Smart notice, thanks to which the device independently decides, depending on the time of day, location or behavior of the owner, what can be offered or advised to its owner. For the entire time of use, G3 notified me of activity in the LG Health app, suggested adding an unknown number to contacts, and once indicated that I need to take an umbrella from home, as precipitation is expected. Everything is quite predictable and understandable. How did we all live before without these notifications?

Now it is very fashionable among manufacturers to develop their own not even applications, but entire software nodes for processing user activity and presenting them in a digestible form. In G3, such a center is called. It collects information about the distance traveled, calculates the calories burned depending on the exercise, and so on.

Of course, it is possible to present information in the form of graphs for different periods of time.

The counting of steps is extremely accurate. For a hundred real steps I counted out loud, there are about 2-3 mistakes on the part of the Korean miracle. This is a very good result, which the developers of pedometers from the Play Store can envy. Bracelets don't count. It doesn't matter where you store your smartphone, in your bag or in your pocket.

Among other things, the health utility can build tracks on the city map. During the movement recording, all other information about the user's activity is collected and it depends on the type of training. The resulting data, of course, can be shared in all possible ways. We can only hope that your friends from the contact list will be interested in contemplating your achievements.

I really like the ability to select before pasting what I once copied before.

LG has provided a special for this clipboard, where besides already copied text, photos and other files are stored. When pasting, you can select either the last copied text, or refer to the memory buffer. In my opinion, this is a very convenient thing that is lacking in all modern mobile devices.

Miracle keyboard

Throughout its press releases, the South Korean company has focused on the unique keyboard in its 2014 flagship. Its main features are adaptability to the method and peculiarities of the input of a particular user, it is possible to change the size of the keys and change the height of the keyboard unit, as well as several other possibilities for customization.

I did not notice any special learning ability that helps later when entering text. Perhaps this is because I mostly use the swype method (Path input) for text input. In the options menu, you can set the degree of autocorrection from moderate to active. My nerves are dear to me, so I decided to stick with a moderate option.

Special thanks to the manufacturer for the ability to change the height of the block of virtual buttons and for the line with numbers.

On the same iPhone, you experience significant inconvenience when you need to enter an alphanumeric password and constantly switch the keyboard to the mode of entering letters and signs. This is all right here!

In keyboard settings, you can add several commonly used punctuation marks. I understand that a fairly impressive mass of people categorically does not recognize a comma, but I am still used to inserting punctuation marks other than a period into sentences. All punctuation, of course, cannot be crammed into the area of virtual buttons, but adding a comma to a period is easy! Again, thanks to LG.

Among other things, you can choose a keyboard theme (black or white). Perhaps that's all. Some handy features have appeared, but it feels like there is still room to work. In a good way.

Application messages has detailed settings for receiving and storing correspondence, but now it has lost the ability to customize by the user. In the same G2, it was possible to change the background in the correspondence, as well as select alternative clouds for dialogues.

It is an application that can be entered both from the menu and by long pressing the volume up button. Here you can draw by hand, take typed notes, insert images, and more.

Is a special application from the manufacturer for automatic cleaning of various garbage in the system. It is quite a good substitute for many third-party "task managers".

LG continues to support the feature guest mode... If necessary, you can set up, so to speak, an additional account, which anyone can enter when unlocking the smartphone with a specially prepared guest key. A curious person will see only those applications that the owner of the smartphone has previously allowed to be shown in the mode settings.

The G3 is now equipped with a dual-window view of programs. Everything is simple here. Holding down the Back key activates a menu from which you can drag a predefined program to the top or bottom of the screen. Landscape orientation is fully supported. We have already seen this on Samsung smartphones, and now other Koreans have pulled themselves together.

As it should be, a proprietary application is preinstalled on a smartphone from LG, designed to control various consumer electronics. The interface is convenient, the initial setup is quick and painless. Pressing the virtual buttons is accompanied by distinct sound signals.

As before, the company took care of adding its own file manager... It is made in a simple design, has the most necessary functions for working with files, and presents files in a convenient and visual form by category (images, music, etc.) or where they are stored.

The captured photographs can be easily edited in the built-in image processor... The editor is full of various settings, has many different ready-made filters in stock (not reading Instagram) and generally does everything quickly and with high quality. For many, this feature will be a good help as the finalization of the captured frames without the use of third-party unfortunate applications or a stationary PC. He took off, pulled up the paint, posted it on the network, collected a bunch of likes - well done!

At the end of the section on software capabilities, I want to give examples of screenshots of the rest of the system applications: calendar, calculator, alarm clock, etc.

Accessories

Together with the flagship, LG decided to launch additional gadgets specialized for smartphones into the market. The cover case and wireless charging are essential accessories that can add variety to an already fun experience with the G3.

QuickCircle Case

The window has become round, a metal edging has appeared, and along with the new shell, the interface of the device has also been updated, which is activated when the cover is closed. The surface of the plastic case, as well as the body of the smartphone, plays like a metal, but differs in more pronounced transverse stripes.

There are many colors to choose from: black, white, pink, light turquoise and, of course, gold. In addition, QuickCircle is available with or without wireless charging support (installed instead of the back cover of the device).

All icons, accessible through the case window, have now become round to match the general concept of the shell and accessory. In standby mode, a clock and weather widget is installed. In the settings, you can choose from nine preset clock themes.

As before, access to the audio player, messages, telephone part of the device remained. In addition, with the lid closed, you can take photos through the dedicated round viewfinder. In mass retail, an accessory that is friendly with wireless charging can be purchased for 1,990 rubles, and a regular model will cost 1,790 rubles.

Wireless charger

This is a special plastic stand that can be easily folded for carrying. The color is exclusively white, but in theory there is also a black variation of the device. According to rumors, the normal operation of the accessory is provided only by the 2 Ampere adapter. Unfortunately, in practice it was not possible to check how the G3 interacts with the device, since at the moment it is very difficult to find this accessory.

Outcome

The appearance of G3 was awaited with special hopes by both the fans of the company and people who had tried the previous Korean flagship in due time. After years of uncertainty, LG still found themselves and released a very decent smartphone at a more than competitive price of 24,990 rubles. I mean G2. The current flagship competes almost head-on with devices from other manufacturers. However, the price of 26,990 rubles can play in favor of the smartphone from LG.

Yes, there are certain reservations here, which cannot be considered flaws in the full sense. It takes some getting used to the dimensions of the device, but it is possible that the smartphone will fit perfectly in your hand. You have to try it yourself. There are software-level orgexes, but you probably shouldn't take them seriously. Personally, the only thing I lack in the G3 is moisture protection.

It is clear that the second largest Korean player in this market is catching up with Samsung. It is simply impossible not to compare these two manufacturers. Nevertheless, if things continue this way, LG will definitely be fine. At least, I really hope so, as a company capable of creating such devices deserves it.

Is the LG G3 the best flagship of 2014?

As you know, the ideal does not exist. So the G3 is still afraid of liquids and dust. As for the rest, taking into account the noticeably lower cost relative to competitors, the smartphone from LG can be safely recommended for purchase. Then it will be your top pick this year.

For quite some time now LG has started to delight with very interesting smartphones. She first began to work with Google, gaining invaluable experience with the Android operating system. And then very curious flagships began to appear. Now you can easily find LG G3 in stores. This is one of the most advanced smartphones out there. On its front panel is a touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The screen of this device accommodates more dots than most computer monitors. The device also surprises with a 13-megapixel laser-guided camera. Permanent memory is allowed to expand with a microSD card. The smartphone is running the Android operating system. And these are just the main characteristics of the device, the device has many other curious sensors.

In this post, we'll try to give you seven tips to improve your LG G3. After all, the buyers of this device do not use even 20% of the provided opportunities. These are the people we want to help. Here are some of the features of the LG G3 that you may not be familiar with.

Navigation keys on the screen

Most modern smartphones are not equipped with physical or touch keys on the front panel. Instead, navigation keys appear at the bottom of the display. The same can be said for the LG G3. Not everyone suspects this, but with these buttons you can get up with various operations. For example, you can change their color, reduce their opacity, and add a couple of new keys. This is done in the settings. Just follow the path "Device> Display> Main touch buttons".

At least three buttons can be placed on the screen, which are necessary for easy navigation through the operating system. Among the additional keys, you can highlight the element responsible for the appearance of the notification panel. There is also a separate key that works with the QMemo application.

Additional functions of navigation keys

The topic of navigation buttons can be continued. The fact is that long pressing them brings up a context menu. As a result, you will be able to access certain functions almost instantly. For example, try holding the Back key. This will allow you to switch to dual-window mode.

Holding down other keys allows you to access the theme change or global settings of the smartphone. This feature is very useful and worth keeping in mind.

Vibration strength adjustment

For some LG G3 owners, the vibration used by the smartphone seems too strong. Other users claim that the vibration motor works almost invisibly. If you also consider yourself to be one of the groups of these people, then try to adjust the strength of vibration.

The LG G3 smartphone allows you to customize the vibration for each specific case. For example, the device will vibrate in case of receiving a notification with one strength, and when there is an incoming call, the vibration will increase significantly. The vibration strength is selected in the settings. To do this, go to the path "Device> Sound> Vibration strength".

Customize the notification panel

The notification panel on the LG G3 is also subject to all sorts of tweaks. By default, this section of the operating system contains system switches for wireless modules, as well as volume and brightness controls. At any time, you can increase the number of switches, as well as get rid of unused ones. To do this, you just need to scroll the switch to the right, and then select the "Change" item. Using the same method, you can get rid of the brightness and volume controls, freeing up space in the notification menu. However, you shouldn't be surprised if you don't find these sliders in the notification bar after purchasing the LG G3. It's just that some modifications of the smartphone may differ in such little things.

The method we specified may not work. In particular, at least one modification is equipped with firmware that does not allow disabling the display of the volume control in the notification menu.

Setting up the app switcher

As with any smartphone, the LG G3 has a multitasking button. It allows you to switch from one open application to another. Showing open applications can be done in three ways. It is curious that switching between display modes of programs is very simple.

Press the multitasking key. You will see the main display mode for open applications. Now use the gesture you would normally use to zoom in on a picture. This will take you to the next mode. In it, large sketches will be divided into two groups. Repeat the gesture, which will put you in the third mode. It will display applications in the same way as it is done in stock Android. To close the programs in this case, you need to move them to the left or right side.

Adjusting color and contrast

No LG G3 customer had any complaints about the display resolution. But some smartphone owners still complain about the color rendition. Fortunately, the manufacturer has built in the device a convenient color display setting. This section also allows you to change the contrast of the display.

To change the parameters you need, go to the system settings menu. Colors and contrast can be changed by simply dragging your finger across the screen. Try placing your finger over the camera icon. Color reproduction in this mode should appear soft and realistic.

Disable smart newsletter

As you know, Google is promoting its Google Now feature. This is a kind of smart assistant used in smartphones and tablets from the Nexus series. The LG G3 has a similar technology called Smart Bulletin. It can be found on the left-most screen of the desktop. Unfortunately, this function is not able to help everyone. It makes sense to use it in the states, but not here.

To disable this function, you need to go to the settings again. Then navigate to Device> Home Screen. Here, change the position of the radio button next to the "Smart Bulletin" item. Please be aware, however, that after doing this, you will not be able to use the LG Health app. But it will free up a lot of space on the home screen!

This concludes the story about the unusual features of the LG G3. Users of this smartphone with a high degree of probability found a lot of interesting points in the text that they did not know about. Surprisingly, these are not all useful features that are rarely used. There are other functions that you sometimes find out about by accident. Maybe you know about them too? Then write about them in the comments.

1. Use the Knock features
The flagship smartphone LG G3 includes several features designed to set it apart from the competition. You can double-tap the screen to turn the display on and off (although the latter only works when you tap on an empty spot on the home screen).

You can use Knock to lock and unlock your device instead of the traditional PIN, or you can wake up your smartphone with a single tap.

In order to try this feature, go to the "General" tab in the "Settings" menu, then follow "Security" - "Lock screen" - "Select screen lock". Select Knock Code, then you will be prompted to create and validate your own Knock template. You will also be prompted to create a backup key in case you forget the code.

2. Use a smart screen
LG takes over Samsung's focus with this feature: when you enable the Smart Screen option, the display backlight will stay on for as long as you look at your device. This is a handy feature if you are reading or spending a lot of time looking at one page.
To use this feature, go to Settings> Display and look for Smart Screen.

3. Take screenshots and annotate them in QuickMemo +
You can take screenshots on just about every Android device, but QuickMemo + is a LG-exclusive (or QMemo +) feature that lets you add handwritten notes to screenshots. There are two ways to get started with QuickMemo +: you can access it from the icon in the quick setting bar or by adding QuickMemo + to your home screen.

4. Changing the system font
Whether you want to spice up your home screen or want a more playful font in your apps, LG comes to the rescue by offering you to customize the text styles to suit your tastes.

To get started, just go to Settings> Display> Font Type. All you need to do is choose the type of font you want.

5. Ability to work with one hand
The LG G3 is a powerful smartphone with some important features, but let's face it - getting there isn't always easy. Luckily, the LG G3 offers a one-handed feature specially designed to make your problem easier.

By including one-handed operation, you can align the dialer, keyboard and lock screen to make it easier to use your smartphone with one hand.

To enable this feature, simply go to Settings - General - One-handed operation. Once you get to the section you want, just check the boxes for the features you would like to enable.

6. Customize the navigation buttons
You can move the navigation buttons of the G3 as you see fit. Want the Home button to be on the left? How about the back button on the right?

No problem, you can change the location of these capacitive buttons or even hide them when not in use. Go to Settings - Display - Basic touch buttons - Key combinations. From here, you can drag the buttons as you see fit.

7. Quick access to camera applications and notes
You can use the volume buttons to launch two applications directly from standby by long pressing them. If you hold down the volume down button, you launch the camera app, and a long press on the volume up button will launch the Notes app.

These assignments cannot be changed, which is frustrating, and functions are also limited when the G3 is protected with a Knock, PIN or pattern; in this case, you will need to unlock your device before the application starts.

8. Adjust the keyboard size
If the keyboard takes up too much space, or you need it to be slightly larger, you can resize the keyboard while holding the LG G3 in portrait mode.

Go to Settings> Language & Input> LG Keyboard. From this section, you will be able to make the necessary changes to the height and position of the keyboard. You can also split the keyboard into halves when holding your smartphone in landscape mode or switching to one-handed mode.

9. Use two apps at the same time
Long pressing the back button activates the dual window function and allows you to run different system applications on the same screen at the same time. These applications include browser, maps, news, and email.

Just drag and drop the two apps you would like to use to the top and bottom of your smartphone. The aspect ratio between the two displayed applications can also be adjusted by dragging the divider bar.

10. Intelligent cleaning function
Smart Cleaning is one of LG's most distinctive features, as it reminds you to delete apps you don't use and other data to free up space on your smartphone. It also recommends that you delete the application cache, temporary files, and other application data that are not used for a long time. Notification intervals and downtime periods are set to 1 month by default, although they can be shortened or extended as you like.

You can find the smart cleanup feature by going to Settings - General - Smart Clean and then just select the category you want to deal with - Temporary Files, Downloaded Folders, or Applications.

11. Adjust contrast and appearance with color adjustment
Under Settings - General - Accessibility, you can find the color adjustment option. In doing so, you can change the appearance and contrast of the entire interface, including application icons.

Once the feature is activated, you can simply swipe your finger across the screen and the entire interface will be resized to reflect the color you choose.

12. Greater accessibility with touch assistant
Basic functions such as volume control, power on / off, home screen, settings and more can be achieved with an additional button that can be placed anywhere on the screen and access any sections of the phone.

To activate these features, go to Settings - General - Accessibility - Touch Assistant. The button will appear on the screen, and by clicking on it you will see a menu in which a bunch of basic functions will open.

13. Change the theme of your messaging app
If you're not a big fan of the look and feel of the messaging app, you can change it. Head to the Settings section of your messaging app and select Change Theme to change the background and appearance of your messages. You can even use a photo as a background if you like.

14. Change app icons
If you don't like the app icon, hold and hold it and then release it, and a small brush will appear in the upper right corner. If you click on it, an overview of the different icons that you can choose to replace will open.
